The 12th edition of the IOT / WT Innovation World Cup® was a great firework of innovation. More than six hundred start-ups, scale-ups and ground-breaking tech founders and SMEs worldwide entered their IoT solutions. AEInnova, an innovative company from Spain, dedicated to research, innovation and development of new products in the field of alternative energies, was standing amongst the Top16 Internet of Things Innovators of 2021.
1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF! – HOW DID IT ALL START?
Alternative Energy Innovation S.L (AEInnova) is an SME founded in October 2014 as a spin-off of the microelectronics and electronics department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The founder’s team was a group of nine high qualified people composed of one MBA, four engineers (electronic, telecommunications, computer, and mechanical), and four Ph.D. (microelectronics, communication, and two physics). AEInnova’s mission is to research and developed high-tech sensing solutions for industry 4.0 using the optimal management of the planet’s resources.
2. WHAT ARE THE KEY MILESTONES YOU HAVE REACHED SO FAR?
AEInnova has raised a total of $5.2M in funding over 14 months. We have obtained 5 European Union R&D Public Grant. The product launches are INDU-EYE Vibro LoraWan / NB – IOT – LTE / Waste Heat Recovery Unit and DAEVIS – Dynamic AEInnova Visualizer. Nowadays, we have operations in Spain.
3. WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU HAVE FACED?
The biggest challenges that we have faced are the funding to obtain money for the company and the validation of our products in big companies.
4. WHAT IS COMING IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
The following steps are the development of the wind and solar INDUEYE. Also, the NB-IoT Indu-Eye.
5. DESCRIBE YOUR JOURNEY IN THE INNOVATION WORLD CUP® AND STANDING AMONGST THE TOP 16 INTERNET OF THINGS INNOVATORS 2021?
The journey in the Innovation World Cup® was fantastic, and it was a good experience for us. The platform facilitates good networking and relations between other companies. Finally, for AEInnova being among the Top16 Internet of Things Innovator 2021 was an incredible experience.
