The Smart Clothing Challenge is a special prize of the IoT/WT Innovation World Cup® powered by AiQ Smart Clothing.
Consumers use more and more wearable technologies in their everyday life. Smart clothing is the next step into the future with endless possibilities to integrate technologies into clothing. It’s just a matter of time until everyone wears clothing that is networked in an intelligent way.
AiQ Smart Clothing has been focusing on bio-signal acquisition, processing, IMU-based human motion acquisition, and analysis for a wide variety of applications in Elderly care, Remote Patient Monitoring, Wellness, Industrial Safety, Rehabilitation, Sports, and VR among others. AiQ Smart Clothing is a pioneer in this area, and has partnered with the Innovation World Cup® Series to look for cutting-edge innovations. This includes completely new textile solutions, fabric, garment engineering, as well as technologies or power systems that can be integrated into an existing piece of clothing.
The winner of the Smart Clothing Challenge powered by AiQ Smart Clothing will be supported to transform their prototype into mass production and aim at high volumes.
Participation is free of charge.
Previous Winners of the Smart Clothing Challenge
Articulate Labs – Winner 2021 builds wearable medical devices that amplify muscle growth throughout everyday activity to help patients conquer functional limitations and to restore physical capability, starting with knee joint rehabilitation. Their KneeStim bridges access to PT by offering gait-synchronous neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to dynamically stimulate quadriceps muscles in sync with movement and to turn everyday activity into rehab opportunities outside of the clinic or gym.
XENOMA – Winner 2020 thrilled the smart apparel industry with its e-skin Sleep & Lounge for the wellbeing and health monitoring of elderly people. Wearer’s sleep condition can be analyzed and the room environment can be adjusted accordingly. In addition, this intelligent clothing enables everyday monitoring of the wearer’s behavior and fall detection.
Re.flex – Winner 2019 Re.flex from Romania showcased at the event their Kineto Tech Rehab that enables motion tracking sensors innovating physical recovery. The solution is used for physiotherapy covering the most common injuries and surgeries of the knee and hip. Re.flex reduces uncertainty and increases patient motivation to train, thus improving the quality and quantity of training and monitoring.
CardioID – Winner 2018 CardioID is developing a technology for a non-intrusive acquisition of the heart signals that enables pervasive health monitoring, emotional state assessment, drowsiness detection, and identity recognition. CardioiD Smart Monitoring (CISM) is a solution for lone worker monitoring based on AiQ Smart Shirt. It acquires the electrocardiogram (ECG), together with inertial information of the user and determines the user state providing man-down, vital signs, and fatigue indicators to the backend.
Bonbouton – Winner 2017 Bonbouton has created cutting-edge sensor technology that is embedded in wearable devices to improve health care seamlessly and intelligently. Our proprietary graphene sensors passively monitor the skin’s physiological signals to predict injury, detect infection and monitor muscular activity. We envision that users, including patients and physicians, can use our mobile platform to interact with each other, monitor patients data, create treatment plans and track their treatment progress.
ANTELOPE Series – Winner 2016 ANTELOPE Series is the world’s first performance increasing sportswear. This innovation is invented by a start-up called Wearable Life Science based in Frankfurt. It is the first sportswear with an integrated electro muscle stimulation system (EMS) worldwide. The natural muscle contraction will be strengthened from the outside through electrical impulses during a workout every single workout will be more intense and more effective. The ANTELOPE team consists of EMS pioneers, sports scientists, fashion designers, IT specialists as well as textile and electrical engineers who developed a compression textile with integrated electrodes. They are controlled by a smartphone-sized control unit and an app. ANTELOPE can be integrated into every sport and is applicable everywhere and at any time. Gyms and workout equipment will be redundant now your sportswear is the gym!
