Flare Snowsport is a hardware and software personal fitness monitoring solution linked to mobile phones; it combines social networking and interactive gaming to provide an all new, real-time interactive snowsport fitness experience by giving you feedback and letting you compete against others.

Flare is an easy to use data capture/storage device worn on the patron’s jacket. This low-power, embedded device includes a USB port for easy data upload to the patron’s online account. Bluetooth low energy technology nodes are positioned at the head and end of trails throughout the resort. As patrons pass a node the time, trail id and geo-position are captured. The optional sports strap adds heart rate, temperature and blood pressure. Patrons simply plug their Flare into any computer and upload the data to their private online account. Data is retained for three years and tracks their improvement over time and by trail, suggests new trails or activities and recommends timed/metabolic challenges.

Data can posted to online resort leaderboards and sent via Twitter to other patrons in their category. Data can also be aggregated to help resort operators understand patterns and usage.
