H Robotics – an innovative start-up from South Korea – brought to the 9th MEDICA Start-up COMPETITION rebless, their unique rehabilitation device as well as tele-rehab platform and made it to the finals on the main stage of the virtual.MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM.
1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF! – HOW DID IT ALL START?
H Robotics is a start-up based on robotics technology. Many robotics technologies are using in the industrial part and we wanted to use robotics technology to contribute a better life for mankind than industrial application.
Rehabilitation was the field we deeply considered as a first step because it is the most important process that helps the patients recover their functional ability after a serious illness.
2. WHAT ARE THE KEY MILESTONES YOU HAVE REACHED SO FAR?
It took 2 years since we started the development, and now, we are about to launch the device and tele-rehab platform. As there is a huge impact on rehabilitation market due to pandemic situation, we expect a lot of return patients as well as the post-COVID 19 patients when the pandemic situation faded.
We really hope our “rebless, smart tele-reahab solution” can be the beneficent home rehabilitation device to help patients who can’t have enough rehabilitation due to less number of facility and professional manpower than demand.
3. WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU HAVE FACED?
The biggest challenge was the verification of product features that requires professional advice and knowledge. Unlike the other commercialized product, it requires more professional knowledge and study to develop a medical device and need field usability verification as well.
To save time and reduce mistakes, we strongly recommend building the network with proper advisors in the relevant field from the beginning of the development.
4. WHAT IS COMING IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
We will release a follow-up hardware model connected with the rebless Clinic, tele-rehab platform first and planning to expand our tele-rehab platform to a telemedicine platform by adding 3rd party system integration with the other devices or platforms that can be used for telemedicine and telehealth.
5. DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE 9th MEDICA Start-up COMPETITITON AND BEING THE TOP12 MEDICAL START-UP 2020
For us at H Robotics, it was a great experience to be among the Top12 Medical Start-ups and share valuable thoughts with other start-up companies presenting their solutions live at the finals of the 9th MEDICA Start-up COMPETITION at virtual.MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM.
We’ve got a lot of ideas about the industry from the pitches presented by other top Medical Innovators and were assured about our business direction to “digitization of healthcare and medical”.
6. CAN YOU SHARE WITH US YOUR THREE TIPS FOR UP-COMING START-UPS?
- Finding creative ideas, understanding the market demand and its actualization are the keywords for any upcoming start-ups.
- Finding a good point of balance between technology development and popularization will make differences among the millions of newly developed items.
Sometimes people miss the “actual needs” of the market. Even when they developed good technology with brilliant ideas, thus we need to consider whether the new development technology can be used effectively in the field. - And of course, all these perfect ideas will make a great opportunity only when actualized as a real product.
THANKS FOR THE INSIGHTS AND WE SHALL KEEP WATCHING YOUR NEXT BIG STEPS!
