Mio Global is a cutting edge wearable technologies firm that has developed heart rate monitoring technology, including devices such as wristbands and watches. The company recently introduced Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) Technology into its next generation of Mio wearable products. PAI captures the wearer’s heart rate and displays it directly on the wrist band. It also captures advanced health tracking information about the wearer, with the ability to track across all types of physical activity.
Mio Global added their new product Mio Slice to the pipeline following the release of the Mio ALPHA wrist watch. Mio acquired the PAI technology from Dr. Ulrik Wisloff, a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and the Head of Cardiac Exercise Research Group at the K.G Jebsen Centre for Exercise in Medicine. The “PAI” method was a result of the findings from a study of more than 60,000 individuals that were closely monitored over a period of 20 years.
Mio Global announced recently that they have secured 19 million Canadian Dollars’ worth of funding, led by the German-based Hydra Ventures. This new investment will be used to continue growth through the development of future technologies focused on improving global health. Mio Global was one of our finalists in the Sports & Fitness category of the WT Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup 14/15.
