Am 14. April ist es soweit. Dann stehen die TOP16 IoT Innovatoren des Jahres 2021 auf der Bühne der Hannover Messe – ausgewählt von einer internationalen Jury aus über 600 Einreichungen. Mit dabei ist die Schildknecht AG, Pionier im Bereich Industrieautomation. Das Unternehmen ist eigentlich nicht der typische Innovation World Cup Teilnehmer aus dem Start-up oder „Scale-up“ Bereich. Denn bereits seit 40 Jahren ist Schildknecht Spezialist für innovative Datenfunkprodukte und „industrielle IoT“ bzw. Industrie 4.0.
Mit der Lösung „Smart Cable Drum“ hat die Schildknecht AG den Sprung auf das Treppchen der rapidM2M Challenge und ins Finale des 12. IoT Innovation World Cup geschafft. Die rapidM2M Challenge ist ein Programm von Microtronics, das innovativen Gründern und KMUs hilft, ihre IoT-Lösungen in kürzester Zeit vom POC bis zur Serienreife zu realisieren. Und das kann auch für Pioniere wie Schildknecht spannend sein. Zurück zu den Kabeltrommeln: sie sind auf vielen Baustellen, in Produktionsstätten und Lagern im Einsatz. Schildknecht nutzt die rapidM2M-Hardware von Microtronics in der „Smart Cable Drum“, um zu ermitteln an welchem Standort sich die Kabeltrommel befindet und wieviel verfügbares Material noch auf einer Kabeltrommel ist – in Echtzeit. Und diese Information wird weltweit über 2G-4G an jedem gewünschten Ort verfügbar gemacht. Die smarte Kabeltrommel kann damit „Pay per Use“ Modelle ermöglichen oder die Basis für rechtzeitige Nachlieferung oder automatische Nachbestellungen sein.

On April 14, the time has come. Then the TOP16 IoT Innovators of 2021 will be on stage at the Hannover Messe – selected by an international jury from over 600 submissions. Among them is Schildknecht AG, a pioneer in the field of industrial automation. The company is not actually the typical Innovation World Cup participant from the start-up or “scale-up” sector. This is because Schildknecht has already been a specialist in innovative radio data transmission products and “industrial IoT” or Industry 4.0 for 40 years.
With its “Smart Cable Drum” solution, Schildknecht AG has made it onto the podium of the rapidM2M Challenge and into the final of the 12th IoT Innovation World Cup. The rapidM2M Challenge is a program by Microtronics that helps innovative founders and SMEs take their IoT solutions from POC to production readiness in the shortest possible time. And that can be exciting for pioneers like Schildknecht, too. Back to the cable drums: they are used on many construction sites, in production facilities and warehouses. Schildknecht uses Microtronics’ rapidM2M hardware in the “Smart Cable Drum” to determine where the cable drum is located and how much available material is still on a cable drum – in real time. And this information is made available anywhere in the world via 2G-4G. The smart cable drum can thus enable “pay per use” models or be the basis for timely resupply or automatic reordering.
