Zurich / Barcelona / Munich, 12 March 2015. The six winners of the world´s biggest Internet of Things innovation competition have been announced. The international jury has selected the winners of the categories Industry 4.0, Mobility, Energy, Security, Healthcare, and Smart Home out of more than 400 solutions coming from more than 70 countries. The official award ceremony of the IoT / M2M Innovation World Cup® was at the Swisscom M2M Day in Zurich on March 12th.
„It was not an easy task for the jury to select the winners. All 24 finalists could have been one of the winners” says Gerhard Schedler, Head of Swisscom M2M. „As the founding partner of the innovation program, we are very pleased that we can showcase by the competition the many ways in which the Internet of Things and M2M solutions will positively influence our daily lives and working experiences in the future.”
And here are the 6 category winners of the IoT / M2M Innovation World Cup 14/15:
1. Mobility
Winner of the mobility category is iCradle GmbH with their solution COBI. COBI is a smart connected bike system, that integrates 100+ modern biking features in the smartphone. Many functions we know in modern cars will be available for the first time for bikers. Examples are dynamic lights adapting to the light situation, automatic brake lights, or a charger that extends the runtime of your smartphone. COBI will be available in summer 2015 for interested users.
2. Industry 4.0
Workaround UG is the winner of the category “Industry 4.0”. ProGlove, sensor-based smart gloves protect workers in industrial environments, enable more efficient production processes and open up a new level of business intelligence for production management. ProGlove will be available for pilot implementation in Q2 2015.
3. Energy
The winner of the Energy category is Sensile Technologies SA and GASLINK®. GASLINK is a robust and autonomous system for remote monitoring of tanks and meters for the oil and gas industry via the Internet. GASLINK is easy to implement and uses the GSM network to transmit data. GASLINK can also use GPRS or UMTS as well as short-distance radio frequency connection. GASLINK is already available.
4. Security
Winner of the category Security is M2M Intelligence® by Machine-to-Machine Intelligence Corp. The IoT and M2M platform offers integrated connectivity, device management, cybersecurity in a single solution. The patented Lockbox security technology protects each and every asset, transaction, data access, and API call. M2M Intelligence® is available as hybrid cloud or a SaaS offering.
5. Healthcare
ONKÖL is the winner of the Healthcare category with its solution ONKÖL. It is a stylish and easy-to-use health and home communications hub for the elderly, their families and caregivers. Through ongoing monitoring of vital data, and incoming and outgoing calls and alerting functions all related parties can react immediately to changes in the daily routine.
6. Connected Home and Overall Winner
ALLTHINGS | HOME by qipp AG is the winner of the category Connected Home. qipp AG develops smart applications for flats, houses, and residential areas, that gives each thing an identity and connect it. ALLTHINGS | HOME centralizes all the useful information and services associated with a specific home into one app. It saves manuals, store plans and connects smart devices.
qipp was also crowned as overall winner at the official award ceremony in Zurich. The international jury was convinced by the degree of innovation and the hit-off go-to-market concept of ALLTHINGS | HOME.
All six winners are now part of the Innovation World Cup® Hall of Fame.
On April 28th the 4th IoT / M2M Innovation World Cup will be kicked-off at the M2M Forum in Milan. The database will be open from 28th of April until November 15th 2015.
