XELA Robotics– an innovative startup from the Japan – brought to the 13th IoT Innovation World Cup® 2022 their unique solution and won in the category Industrial.

- HOW DID IT ALL START?
We are a spin-off from Waseda University, one of the leading universities worldwide for robotics. We have a lot of experience with tactile sensors and developed a design that works really well for a lot of problems, so we wanted to distribute it further with the help of our company, which we started in August 2018. The name XELA refers to one of our founders, but basically it just sounds good 🙂
- WHAT ARE THE KEY MILESTONES YOU HAVE REACHED SO FAR?
We are about to receive 1,800,000 EUR funding, expand our business, and launch new and improved products. We have already acquired more than 50 customers in 4 continents, and we are generally regarded as one of the companies on the forefront of tactile sensing technology.
- WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU HAVE FACED?
Despite of Corona, we have managed to double our sales every year so far. There really has not been anything that we would be doing differently if we could do it all over again!
- WHAT IS COMING IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
We will expand our business to Austria, hire more people, and proceed towards providing complete tactile solutions to customers for automating their factories, warehouses, agricultural activities, to name just a few.
- DESCRIBE YOUR JOURNEY IN THE INNOVATION WORLD CUP® AND STANDING AMONGST THE WORLD TOP TECHPRENEURS 2022?
The IWC was an excellent opportunity to present our company and products in front of big corporations, and the fact that we won the championship is a sign that what we are doing is interesting for such companies!
Overall, the experience was great. It was nervous to pitch in front of the professional jury but at the same time a great experience and really nice to meet the other companies and share experiences.

I still hope a great product is more important than a great presentation, but of course that also counts!
